Longrui Forging is a die forging factory in China. We make ball valve bodies and covers from 1/2″ to 12″, Class 150–2500, in carbon, alloy, stainless, duplex and nickel alloys. Hot forging, heat treatment, NDT and machining all happen in our own plant, and we are certified to API Spec 20C, NORSOK M650 and EU PED / AD2000-W0. Covers and bonnets are covered in detail on the forged valve covers page.
Ball Valve Bodies and Covers We Forge
- Ball valve bodies, end caps and covers (bonnets) for floating and trunnion-mounted valves, two-piece and three-piece designs
- Sizes 1/2″ to 12″; pressure classes 150, 300, 600, 1500 and 2500
- As-forged or machined to drawing, up to Ø600 × 1000 mm
- Single pieces up to 520 kg. The 6,000 T press runs 150–520 kg parts; the 3,000 T and 2,000 T presses cover 5–150 kg
- Annual die-forging capacity: 15,000 tonnes

Materials We Forge
We buy and verify our own steel. Every heat is checked on the spark spectrometer before it goes to the press.
| Grade family | Grades we forge most for valve parts |
|---|---|
| Carbon and low-temperature steel | A105; A350 LF2 for low-temperature service |
| Alloy steel | 4130, 4135, 4140, 5140 |
| Stainless steel | A182 F304, F316; 17-4 PH |
| Duplex / super duplex | A182 F51, F53, F55 |
| Nickel alloys | Alloy 625, Alloy 718, Alloy 825 |
Grades we forge regularly. If yours is not on the list, ask us about it. The full grade list, the service each grade suits and the heat treatment it gets are on the materials page.

Quality & Certifications
The valve body line runs under our API Spec 20C quality system. Third-party audits cover NORSOK M650, PED 2014/68/EU, AD2000-W0 (TÜV NORD) and BV Mode II.
Each delivery can come with the paperwork your QA team wants: composition and mechanical test reports, UT / MT / PT / VT reports, and dimensional reports on machined parts. See how we run each step on the manufacturing process page, the full certification list, or what API Spec 20C and NORSOK M-650 cover for oil and gas buyers.
Custom Work
Send a drawing in any format (PDF, DWG, STEP). We check die-forging feasibility, work out the tooling, and come back with a price. Our multi-directional die design is covered by 5 granted patents. Presses, heat treatment and the lab: see Capability; how the forging itself works: closed die forging.
Why a Forged Body, Not a Cast One
A ball valve body is a pressure boundary with a bore through it, which is why it is usually specified as a forging rather than a casting. Forging closes the porosity that solidification leaves behind in a cast wall, and turns the grain flow along the section, so the metal at the bore and through the flange thickness has been worked rather than left as-cast, and an ultrasonic test is reading through a part that has been deformed through its thickness. The body also arrives near-net, which keeps machining on the sealing faces and the bore instead of on removing surplus metal.
We run the whole sequence on one site: billet cut to weight, die forging on presses from 2,000 to 6,000 tonnes, heat treatment, machining and testing, under our API Spec 20C licence and NORSOK M-650 qualification.
Buying Valve Body Forgings from China
Most of what a buyer wants to settle before placing an order in China is proof rather than price, and the questions are fair ones. Four checks, and where we stand on each:
- Can the certificate be checked by a third party? Our API Spec 20C Monogram licence is No. 20C-0051, and it can be looked up in the API Composite List by company name or by licence number. NORSOK M-650, PED 2014/68/EU and AD2000-W0 documents are issued through TÜV NORD.
- Is this one plant, or a trading desk? Billet cutting, die forging, heat treatment, machining and testing run on one site in Yunhe County, Zhejiang, and the same heat number follows the part from billet through to dispatch.
- Can we send an inspector? Yes. Customer and third-party inspection can be arranged at the works, and where a project calls for witnessed testing an EN 10204 3.2 countersigned by the outside inspector is issued on request and quoted as a separate item.
- What arrives with the shipment? The material certificate, chemical and mechanical test reports, the NDT reports for the scope agreed on the order, the heat treatment chart, and dimensional reports on machined parts.
If your buying procedure needs a supplier questionnaire, a works audit or a first sample part before a commercial order, that is ordinary business for us. Send the drawing and tell us which route your quality department works to.
Frequently Asked Questions
What valve body sizes can you forge?
From 1/2″ to 12″, Class 150 to 2500, floating and trunnion designs. We forge both bodies and covers (bonnets).
Which materials do you forge?
Carbon and low-temperature steels (A105, A350 LF2), alloy steels (4130, 4140, 5140, F91, F92), stainless (F304, F316, 420, 17-4 PH), duplex and super duplex (F51, F53, F55) and nickel alloys (625, 718, 825).
Are you certified for oil & gas forgings?
Yes. API Spec 20C, NORSOK M650, PED 2014/68/EU, AD2000-W0 and BV Mode II. Certificates are available on request.
Do you supply as-forged or machined parts?
Both. We machine to drawing up to Ø600 × 1000 mm, and can send dimensional and NDT reports with the delivery.
What is your forging capacity?
Three multi-directional presses (6,000, 3,000 and 2,000 T), single pieces up to 520 kg, and an annual die-forging capacity of 15,000 tonnes.
How do I get a quotation?
Send a drawing or specification through the RFQ form, or email sales@longruiforging.com. You usually get the quote within 24–48 hours. A sketch with the size, the pressure class and the grade is enough to start; a full drawing lets us price the tooling as well.
Which parts of a ball valve do you forge?
The pressure-containing parts: the body, the cover or bonnet, and on a three-piece valve the two end caps that bolt around the centre section. The ball, the stem and the seat rings are machined and lapped by Longrui.
Do you supply ball valve manufacturers directly?
Yes. Most of our output goes to ball valve manufacturers and to plants that assemble their own valves, either machined to drawing or as as-forged blanks for their own machining line, and project buyers and distributors order to the same drawings.
Which ball valve types do your bodies go into?
Trunnion mounted and floating designs, two-piece and three-piece, full port and reduced port, in nominal sizes from 1/2 inch to 12 inch, and from Class 150 up to Class 2500 for high pressure service. What changes between them is the bore, the seat pocket and the wall thickness the class brings with it; the forging and heat treatment route is the same.
