In short. Longrui Forging holds API Monogram licence 20C-0051 for closed-die forgings, covering forging groups 1 to 4 at FSL 1 and FSL 2, with the quality management system audited to API Spec Q1:2023. The scope covers carbon and low-alloy, martensitic, austenitic and PH stainless, corrosion-resistant and duplex stainless steels, and design is the one exclusion recorded in our quality manual.NORSOK M-650 qualification and PED 2014/68/EU with AD2000-W0 by TÜV NORD are held at the same site, so a forging can be supplied against all four schemes, provided the grade, test schedule and acceptance criteria required for that part fall within the approved scope of each. Whether a specific part is covered is confirmed by the certificate documents issued with the order.

Longrui Forging is licensed to API Spec 20C for closed-die forgings, with a quality management system audited to API Spec Q1, and holds NORSOK M-650 qualification as a manufacturer of special materials. All of it applies to the forged parts we make for oil, gas and offshore service, including duplex and super duplex valve bodies and covers. Our API Monogram license number is 20C-0051. Certificates are available on request.

API Spec 20C

API Spec 20C, Closed Die Forgings for Use in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry, is the API specification that covers the design, qualification and production of closed-die forgings used in oil and gas equipment. It applies where service conditions call for closed-die forgings, typically pressure-containing or load-bearing components, and it sets four forging specification levels (FSL) with different technical, quality and qualification requirements.

What it means for a buyer: the forge shop has a documented process, qualified personnel, defined material controls and a testing regime that an API-based quality system accepts. When an end user or an equipment maker specifies API 20C forgings, the supplier list is short, and the certificate is what gets you onto it.

Longrui holds API Monogram License No. 20C-0051. The license covers forging groups 1 to 4 (carbon and low-alloy steels, austenitic, martensitic and PH stainless steels, corrosion-resistant alloys, and duplex stainless steel) at forging specification levels FSL 1 and FSL 2, with design excluded from the quality system scope. Licenses are public: ours can be checked in the API Composite List by company name or by license number.

API Spec Q1

API Spec Q1, Quality Management System Requirements for Organizations Providing Products for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry, is the quality management standard that sits behind every API product license. It is written for manufacturers who supply oil and gas equipment and materials, so it asks for more than a general quality system does: control of the supply chain, material traceability, control of the process and of the people who run it, handling of nonconforming product, and a documented way of correcting what goes wrong.

The rule that matters to a buyer is this. API does not issue a Monogram license for a product specification such as API 20C, API 6A or API 6D to a manufacturer whose quality management system does not meet API Spec Q1, and the system is audited on site before the license is granted. When a forging arrives from a licensed shop, the shop behind it has already been audited against Q1, and not only against the forging specification.

What the audit covers

The audit works through the route the part takes: how material is bought and verified on arrival, how the dies and the process are controlled, how the heat number is followed from billet to dispatch, how heat treatment and testing are recorded, how nonconforming product is kept out of a shipment, and what happens when something does go wrong. The manufacturer also has to keep a quality manual that describes the system and how it meets the standard. Our manual is written to API Spec Q1:2023 (10th edition) together with API Spec 20C:2020.

The one exclusion in our system: design

API Q1 allows a limited number of exclusions, and each one has to be justified in writing and named in the quality manual. Our license records one, design. We forge to the drawing, so the design and development of the part stay with you and the forging is made to your specification. Where a project needs design work at the forge, that is a conversation to have before the part is quoted.

Q1 and ISO 9001 are not the same thing

ISO 9001 is a general quality management standard that any industry can apply. API Spec Q1 builds on it and adds the requirements that oil and gas operators ask for, which is why a buyer in this industry asks for Q1 rather than for ISO 9001 alone. We hold ISO 9001:2015 as well, and the two run together on the same site; Q1 is the one audited for the API license.

How to check it

API Monogram licenses are public. Ours is No. 20C-0051, and it can be looked up in the API Composite List by company name or by license number. The audit scope and certificate copies are available on request.

NORSOK M-650

NORSOK M-650, Qualification of manufacturers of special materials, is the Norwegian oil and gas industry standard for qualifying the manufacturers of high-performance materials. It is a manufacturer qualification, not a material specification: it verifies that the supplier has the competence, experience, facilities, equipment and manufacturing controls to make the specified grades in the required product forms and sizes.

M-650 covers duplex and super duplex stainless steels, high-alloy austenitic stainless steels, nickel base alloys and titanium, which is why offshore and subsea buyers ask for it when a part is made from those grades. Qualification involves documented manufacturing procedures, defined heat treatment controls and testing capability, witnessed by a third party.

What it means for a buyer: the shop has been audited for the special material itself, not only for its general quality system. For duplex and super duplex parts, it is usually the first document an offshore project asks to see.

Our Certifications

This page covers the qualifications that decide whether a forge shop can quote an oil and gas part at all: API Spec 20C, the API Spec Q1 quality system that license is audited against, and NORSOK M-650. The rest of the certificate set, with the scope of each, is listed on the certifications page. Certificate documents are available in PDF form on request.

What Ships With the Order

Material certificates and the packing list travel with every shipment, with the chemical and mechanical test reports, the NDT reports for the agreed scope, and heat-treatment charts on request. Every batch is traceable from heat number to finished part, and material identity is re-verified with a handheld XRF spectrometer before packing. The document types are set out on the certifications page, and the physical route the part takes is on the manufacturing process page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you NORSOK M-650 qualified?

Yes. NORSOK M-650 is a manufacturer qualification for special materials, so it applies to the grades we forge covered by our qualification, including duplex and super duplex stainless steels and nickel alloys.

Are you API 20C certified?

Yes, for closed-die forgings. API Spec 20C is the specification that governs closed-die forgings for oil and gas service, including pressure-containing components such as valve bodies and covers.

Are you API Q1 certified?

Our quality management system meets API Spec Q1 and is audited by API on site, and that audit is a condition of holding the API 20C Monogram license No. 20C-0051. Ask for the audit scope and the certificate number, and we will send both.

Does an API 20C license mean the shop works to API Spec Q1?

Yes. A Monogram license for a product specification such as API 20C is only issued to a manufacturer whose quality management system meets API Spec Q1, and API audits that system on site. Ours is audited to Q1, with design as the only exclusion.

What is the difference between API Q1 and ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 is a general quality management standard that any industry can apply. API Spec Q1 builds on it and adds the requirements the oil and gas industry asks for, including supply chain control, material traceability and the handling of nonconforming product. A shop can hold ISO 9001 without ever having been audited to Q1.

Do you work with design excluded?

Yes, design is the only exclusion in our system. We forge to your drawing, so design and development stay with you, and API requires the exclusion to be justified in writing and named in our quality manual.

Which of your products do these certificates cover?

Forge parts made in the qualified and certified scope: valve bodies and covers, flanges and rings, and other closed-die forged components in the listed grades. Send the part and the specification you must meet and we will confirm coverage in writing.

Can you supply documents for a tender package?

Yes. Certificates, test reports and material certificates can be issued for tender or project documentation. Request the certification pack through the RFQ form or at sales@longruiforging.com.

Do you make forged parts for oil and gas, or only for valve makers?

Both. Valve makers, distributors and project buyers all order from us; the same forging and testing route applies. Valve bodies and covers are the parts we make most.

How do I verify a certificate?

Ask us for the certificate PDF and the certificate number, and we will send both. API Monogram licenses are also public: ours can be checked in the API Composite List by company name or by license number 20C-0051. Third-party audits and customer audit visits are part of how we work, as the TÜV NORD, Bureau Veritas and API-based qualifications above show.

Ask us for the certification pack with the certificates and test reports that apply to your part.
